It takes a Savior to raise a child…the reason behind the name.

What or why title our blog this way?

Well to some this maybe a no brainer but to others it may take a little explanation. So here it goes.

When dreaming of this blog we knew our faith and family had to be first and foremost- well obviously as they are going to be the subjects and inspiration for each and every word written. So what about our faith and family and how can we incorporate it into our blog from the very start?

We said random words and thoughts that we’d write about like homeschool, cooking, DIY, God, Christian.

The phrase or adage we’ve all been hearing lately ” it takes a village to raise a child” stuck out in my head. Let’s face it I’ve seen the village and don’t want nor will I let my children be raised by that village.

So we thought about it. What and who does it take to raise a child. Well I guess anyone can raise a child but again I’ve seen the village and I don’t want to raise more villagers. In order to keep from raising more villagers we turned to the Bible for our instructions. There are so many powerful verses but let’s just start with a few.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord

Deuteronomy 6:7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.

Isaiah 54:13 All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.

Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.

There are more. Many more. But in this it is clear that if we don’t want to add more villagers to that village it takes a Savior to raise a child. Therefore in our house we believe raising our children up in the way of the Lord with our Saviors help we will contribute great God fearing Christian adults who maybe even if in a small way can help change that village.

Now because I love their sweet faces take a look at my blessings from God!

Certainly not in this day and age. Today’s “village” is all about indoctrination and conformity for the greater good of the collective no matter how badly it screws up the child’s mind. One need only look around to see the product of our “fine” public education system. My tax dollar goes to that? Really?!
